ME+EM is a British modern luxury fashion brand that is widely recognized for its commitment to one of the most fashionable trends: intelligent style. It offers consumers contemporary, high-quality lifestyle pieces that are a perfect fusion of luxury and practicality. ME+EM, founded in 2009 by Clare Hornby, sells the idea of "intelligent style" and believes in a philosophy that comes before all - the one that emphasizes the most flattering silhouettes, the use of luxurious materials, and functional designs. Considering this, ME+EM provides a versatile, full head-to-toe wardrobe solution for the busy, contemporary women.
The company has more than 170 employees at its London HQ office. Among them is a product team of 56 people
What really stood out about WFX was its customizability. We’re able to adapt the system to suit our processes instead of changing the way we work to fit the system. That was so important to us because other systems we’d seen in the past felt rigid - they dictated the process. With WFX, we can adjust instantly and create what works best for our teams, which is exactly what we need.
Head of Production, ME+EM
Managing product information across departments was becoming increasingly more complex as ME+EM was expanding. Excel-based workflows of the company led to some inconsististency, inefficiency, and the communication gaps between the teams. As they didn't have a centralized system, it was turning into a problem to track product progress and get together with the other departments. The expansion of ME+EM was a strong signal that the company needed to make a significant change if it wanted to keep up its success.
Although it had been quite effective to use spreadsheets for managing product information across different teams, it was gradually becoming evident that there was a ceiling to its potential. The teams occasionally found it hard to be in agreement, and more and more time was needed to check product progress in the different departments. There were instances in which updates were overlooked, resulting in delays or extra follow-ups. Moreover, the process of getting new team members on board also took longer since the procedures were mostly team-dependent rather than being standardized. While these are typical problems of a rapidly expanding brand, ME+EM acknowledged the necessity of a more efficient and scalable solution to usher in the next stage of growth.
WFX Tasks such as managing the sheets that before took up hours with manual work across emails and spreadsheets can now be done very quickly with the help of data automation directly from WFX.
With standardized processes and centralized data, the chances of errors that were shared product information internally and with suppliers have been minimized.
Different departments have become synchronized through a shared system, which makes the transfer of work as well as the communication between the functions more efficient.
ME+EM is in the process of experimenting with suppliers' direct measurement entries into WFX which is lessening the hard work of data input and the sending of emails for the continuation of work.
As more teams adopt WFX, ME+EM anticipates greater visibility into production timelines and sample tracking, with dashboards expected to further streamline management oversight.
Standardized workflows and a single system reduce dependency on team-specific processes, helping new team members get up to speed faster and work more confidently from day one.
